Papier10, The Contemporary Art Fair of Works on Paper - Art accessible to
every pocketbook
MONTREAL, April 1 /CNW Telbec/ - Contemporary art for all tastes and all pocketbooks! This is what Papier10, The Contemporary Art Fair of Contemporary Works on Paper, which takes place in Montreal April 16-18, promises.
A free event that's one of a kind in Quebec and a crossroads of the contemporary art market in the province, the Contemporary Art Fair of Works on Paper stimulates encounters among artists, galleries, art lovers and professionals in the field.
Papier10 brings together works by more than 150 artists represented by 23 galleries in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Ottawa, Eastman, and Orford, members of or invited by the Contemporary Art Galleries Association (AGAC), which is organizing the event.
Covering different approaches to techniques on paper, the Fair features recent works by artists such as Raymonde April, Marcel Barbeau, Catherine Bolduc, Sylvain Bouthillette, Claude Chaussard, Michael Flomen, Jérôme Fortin, David Lafrance, Arthur Munk, Marc Séguin, and Antoni Tapiés.
To encourage the discovery of contemporary art in Canada, the Contemporary Art Fair of Works on Paper is, for the first time, inviting visitors to tour the exhibition using a catalogue that explains the artistic approaches behind the most notable and original works.
"The art market is not aimed only at those in the know," notes Jean-François Bélisle, director of AGAC. "And since we have pieces for every taste and in every price range, we are certain that the general public will love it."
Lectures and roundtables on the specificities of paper with regard to both private collections and museum exhibitions are also planned on the weekend's program.
The Contemporary Art Fair of Works on Paper could not have taken place without the unfailing support of partners such as SODEC, the Conseil des Arts de Montréal, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Tourisme Montréal, Collection Loto-Québec, Axa Art, Globalex, Pacart, Boréale, and Caisses Desjardins, as well as the art magazines Ciel Variable, Esse, ETC Montréal, and Vie des Arts.
