Prof. Tariq Ramadan lecture
MONTREAL, April 14 /CNW Telbec/ - On Friday, April 16, 2010, Présence musulmane Montréal (PMM) and the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) will be holding an event featuring Professor Tariq Ramadan. Professor Ramadan will give two talks: the first one, in English, is entitled "Muslims in the West: Beyond Integration" and will take place between 6 and 7:15pm. The second talk will be held in French, between 8:15 and 9:30 pm and is entitled "Face au défi identitaire: quel avenir pour les musulmans?". The two lectures will take place at the Palais des congrès (Hall 710).
Professor Ramadan teaches Contemporary Islamic Studies at Oxford University and is a regular speaker in Quebec and Canada. Both within academic circles and at the invitation of diverse civil society organizations, he has contributed significantly to the ongoing dialogue on issues related to citizenship and the building of harmonious societies.
This is a public event open to all those who wish to take part in a discussion among citizens from all backgrounds and walks of life on universal values such as those upon which our democratic society has been built.
