Commission to release Interim Report on Quality Public Services and Tax Fairness at news conference in Sudbury Français
SUDBURY, ON, April 11, 2012 /CNW/ - The Public Services Foundation of Canada (PSFC) will release an Interim Report on the findings and recommendations of the Commission on Quality Public Services and Tax Fairness at a news conference in Sudbury on Thursday April 12.
The 96-page report contains 16 recommendations on how the Province of Ontario can take steps to sustain quality public services through moderate changes to tax policies.
In response to the McGuinty government's creation of the Drummond Commission in 2011, the PSFC established the Commission on Quality Public Services and Tax Fairness in the autumn of 2011. Judy Wasylycia-Leis, a former federal Member of Parliament, was named Chair of the Commission and conducted an extensive six-week tour of a dozen cities in Ontario.
In Sudbury, the Commission attracted more than 100 individuals to its evening town hall forum on Feb. 9 and nine formal presentations by expert witnesses earlier the same day.
