Media Advisory - Lower Mainland Youth who are Blind or Visually Impaired Celebrate End of 2012 Programs at Courage Canada BC Youth Blind Hockey Day

What:

Blind and visually impaired youth from the Surrey School District 36 and the Burnaby School District 41 have been getting the equal opportunity to strap on skates this winter thanks to Courage Canada and their national non-profit key partners - AMI - Accessible Media and the CNIB.  Wednesday April 18^th is Courage Canada BC Youth Blind Hockey Day, celebrating the successful completion of the programs. The students will be joined by special guests from the Vancouver Eclipse Blind Hockey Team who will coach them on blind hockey skills as well as play a blind hockey game to conclude the program.

Courage Canada is a national registered charity founded 3 years ago by 24 year-old blind hockey player and Toronto native Mark DeMontis. This year, over 200 blind and visually impaired youth from 13 different regions coast to coast are participating in learn to skate and blind hockey programs.

Skates and hockey equipment for national programs are generously donated by Sport Chek's Power of Sport for Kids (POS4K) Program.
