Media Advisory - Workforce One-Stop 2012: Connecting the Skilled Workforce with Workplaces and Marketplaces

TORONTO, April 20, 2012 /CNW/ - Employers and educators are looking for ways to prepare workers to use new technologies and innovative tools for the workplace.

Workforce One-Stop 2012, hosted by The Conference Board of Canada, promises to provide practical advice on how to find, recruit, develop, and retain workers successfully.

When:	Monday, April 23, 2012 to Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
Who:	Michael Bloom, Vice-President, Organizational Effectiveness and Learning, The Conference Board of Canada, will describe the three forces affecting work today—globalization, firm-level and technological innovation, and demographic change. 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Room 105.
	Craig Alexander, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist TD Bank Financial Group, will present "Literacy….It's the Passport to Prosperity!!"  8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Room 105.
	Marie Bountrogianni, Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Ryerson University's G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, and former Ontario Cabinet minister, will address the issue of "mal-employment": the mismatch between the skill requirements of the job and the education of the worker. 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Room 106.
	Generational Experts, boomer Amy Lynch and millennial Seth Mattison, will present cutting-edge insights into what makes the generations tick, click and collide - in an unforgettable and entertaining style. 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Room 106.
