Habitat for Humanity Toronto makes the dream of homeownership a reality for 17 low-income families.
TORONTO, April 23, 2012 /CNW/ - Habitat for Humanity Toronto has completed construction on the final 17 homes at their 4572 Kingston Road project, a 29-unit townhouse development in Toronto's east end. Hundreds will gather on Tuesday, April 24th at 4:00p.m. as the families receive the keys to their new homes in a Dedication Ceremony.
Among the seventeen new homeowners is Sunita Sanichar and her sons, Christopher and Johnathan. For Sunita, a single mother whose son lives with autism, a safe and stable living environment is incredibly important, as even the slightest change in routine can have a rippling effect on the family balance. "Having a Habitat home will mean peace and harmony in a space to call my own" remarks Sunita, as she looks forward to the dedication ceremony.
"A family's home environment plays such an important role in shaping a child's future," says Neil Hetherington, CEO of Habitat Toronto. "Homeownership through the Habitat for Humanity model allows parents to provide a stable and safe environment for their families, on terms that are affordable. I'm thrilled to see the Sanichar family move into their Habitat home."
