The Rotary Club of Toronto is celebrating 100 years of service to the community.  During our Centennial year, we are donating in excess of $1,000,000 to local and international agencies!

Keynote address: Ms. Megan Campbell, Consultant, Aid Advocacy & Sustainable Strategies

"The End of Water Projects: A Vision for Sustainable Water Services"

TORONTO, April 9, 2013 /CNW/ - Ms. Megan Campbell is a freelance consultant to social initiatives in Canada, helping them create powerful strategies that lead to transformative change, and shares her experience creating high-leverage solutions in complex systems. She has a decade of experience influencing policy and practice in Africa, Asia, and Canada. Ms. Campbell joined Engineers Without Borders' Water and Sanitation team in Malawi, and as Co-Director helped to pioneer solutions for fundamental problems surrounding sustainable water and sanitation services. Policy makers, funders, and local government worked together to implement scaling a country-wide water point monitoring tool, and piloted more effective ways for field workers to discuss water point repairs with rural villagers. In addition, her team created practical appropriate approaches to build government capacity for water sustainability and sanitation services. Ms. Campbell is currently an advisor to the Canadian Fair Trade Network and Admitting Failure, and as a Trade School Toronto lecturer.

Program Highlight: The $100,000 Centennial Award will be presented to The Toronto Rotary Club's Building Project, Bakong Technical College in Siemp Reap, Cambodia. Mr. Ronnie Yimsut, Founder and Chair of Bakong Technical College in Cambodia, will be present to accept the award.

The Rotary Club of Toronto is partnering with Bakong Technical College in Cambodia to build a vocational school located just outside of Siem Reap, the home of the UNESCO heritage site Angkor Wat. The building of this College will provide the Khmer people with much needed vocational training and important skills.  On completion, there will be approximately 300 young people who will seek employment in tourism and environmental protection. Its courses will include English, computer training, cooking, hospitality, green design, fish farming, agriculture, micro-credit and bicycle repairs.  Bakong Technical College is the realization of Mr. Ronnie Yimsut's dream of bringing essential educational programs to the young people of his country.
