Media Advisory - NCACT to Release Ontario Anti-Contraband Tobacco Public Outreach Results, Calls For More Government Action

OTTAWA, April 19, 2013 /CNW/ -

What:	Grant and Bradley will highlight results of a NCACT outreach initiative that took place over the last two weeks in cities across the province. NCACT representatives were in Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Mississauga, Ottawa and Toronto to gauge public awareness of Ontario's illegal cigarette problems.
Why:	There are more illegal cigarettes in Ontario than anywhere else in the country. Contraband tobacco funds the activities of more than 175 criminal gangs, including drugs, guns, and human smuggling. Contraband's low price and easy availability also makes it a prime source of youth smoking. Respondents were invited to send a post card to Premier Wynne asking for more government action against this problem.
