YQQ Thanks Airport Volunteers for Improving the Passenger Experience
VANCOUVER, April 22, 2013 /CNW/ - The Comox Valley Airport is thanking its 54 volunteers who donate their time and energy to make the journeys of YQQ passengers extra special.
"The first person you are likely to encounter when you enter the terminal building is a smiling airport volunteer," said Comox Valley Airport CEO, Fred Bigelow. "This is a very important first step in personalizing the travel experience for our passengers, especially for those who may need a little extra time and assistance at the beginning or end of their journey."
YQQ's volunteer program is comprised of individuals with a broad range of experience and skills. Each volunteer is scheduled for an average of one shift per week, coinciding with peak traffic volumes in the terminal building. Volunteers are stationed throughout the terminal building to interact with both arriving and departing passengers.
"We are fortunate to work with such a dedicated group of individuals who go above and beyond to ensure the best experience possible for our passengers," said YQQ Volunteer Coordinator, Marilyn Jorgensen. "National Volunteer Week is an excellent time to say thank you and remind our volunteers of what an important role they play in airport operations."
In celebration of Volunteer Week and YQQ's volunteers, On the Fly Cafe will be hosting a barbeque featuring entertainment by special guest, Rob Petrie. Members of the public are invited to join our volunteers and enjoy a burger, pop and chips for $5.00 and enter a draw for a chance to win a free barbeque. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Y.A.N.A.
