Media Advisory - Inner-city kids get a chance to play like pros at Rogers Cup on Philpott and Emirates Day, August 10
TORONTO, Aug. 8, 2012 /CNW/ - Kids from across Toronto will play like pros at this year's Rogers Cup, in tennis camps organized by the Doug Philpott Inner City Children's Tennis Fund, which reaches more than 4,500 inner-city youth each summer.
Rogers Cup fans are asked to lend their support and donate used racquets, preferably junior sized ones, to the Emirates Racquet Return Program, which provides racquets to the Doug Philpott Fund and other like-minded organizations across the country. Emirates has also committed to giving away more than $10,000 worth of junior sized racquets to various underserviced areas and charities across Canada throughout the remainder of 2012 and into 2013.
WHAT: 100 plus Philpott boys and girls onsite at tennis clinics at Rogers Cup. Each child will be surprised with a brand-new Emirates-donated racquet.
WHO: Media are invited to participate with the kids on and off-court. Photos and interviews will be available with the boys and girls. A representative from Tennis Canada, the Doug Philpott Inner-City Children's Tennis Fund and Emirates airline will also be on-hand to speak to the program.
