Mobilicity dials up D.R.E.A.M.S. for elementary schools with S'Cool Life Fund
Unlimited wireless carrier raises $40,000 to help enrich
public school life for Canadian children
TORONTO, Dec. 9 /CNW/ - In the spirit of giving, Mobilicity today announced its philanthropic support of S'Cool Life Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding Canadian elementary public school programs that enhance and enrich the core curriculum.
Mobilicity confirmed it raised $40,000 at employee and partner events in the fall as part of its commitment to give back to communities across Canada.
"We want to do our part to ensure Canadian school children receive the fun, well-rounded experiences we did when we were kids," said Mobilicity President and CEO Dave Dobbin. "S'Cool Life Fund fills a much-needed void for many schools, which no longer have budgets for team sports, school plays and other important extra-curricular programs."
"We are delighted to have Mobilicity on board as we help an increasing number of Canadian public elementary schools enrich student life, said John Bitove, Chairman, S'Cool Life Fund. "Going to school isn't just about learning the three 'Rs' - it's also about developing new interests and stretching your imagination."
Since launching in 2005, S'Cool Life Fund has awarded more than $1.75 million worth of grants to help supplement D.R.E.A.M.S: Drama, Recreation, Extra Curricular, Music, and Sports for children in public elementary schools.
Grant applications for the 2010/2011 school year are available online and are being accepted until January 31, 2011; all applications will continue to be accepted through S'Cool Life Fund. Schools may apply for one grant per school per calendar year; S'Cool Life Fund applicants who have already applied for a music grant for 2011 will automatically be considered for this new funding where possible. Recipients will be selected in spring 2011.
