Internationally renowned Grand Illusionist shares magical moments from his tour
TORONTO, Dec. 18 /CNW/ - Christmas will soon be a memory and after a season of rushing around we all want a little magic in our lives to kick off the New Year right.
International Grand Illusionist Ryan Joyce has added magic to the lives of his audiences and countless charities across Canada and now he wants to share his magical moments of 2010 with you.
Joyce has been capturing magical moments on his blog (www.ryanjoyce.com/blog) and is inviting readers and fans to do the same. He has proven magic can change the lives of others having raised more than $2 million for Canadian charities including The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and countless local nonprofit groups. Working with these organizations has led to many heart-warming and magical moments from British Columbia to Newfoundland.
Joyce's tours are more than just making fire trucks vanish, levitating SUVs, and making more than 100 local politicians disappear into thin air. His shows are about making a difference in the lives of others and sharing magical moments all year long.
As Joyce looks forward to 2011, so too are audiences already buying tickets to catch a glimpse of his mind blowing magic and illusion. It's the kind of performance that starts your New Year with an excitement and mystery and good feelings knowing your ticket made a difference in someone else's life.
Part of what makes Joyce's show so amazing is the element of intrigue and surprise.
THE ELEMENT OF SURPRISE.
Magical moments everyday
We all secretly love to be surprised. Some surprises can be less than enjoyable like fueling up and realizing you forgot your wallet at home. Other surprises can make your day brighter, like finding an extra $20 in your wallet.
"This is one of my all time favourites. I save it for only a few times a year when it presents itself naturally. With the right conditions you can do it immediately and make someone's entire year over the course of a meal," says Joyce, noting a simple act of kindness can be the surprise many people need this time of year.
As a touring entertainer Joyce has eaten in countless restaurants, often for three meals a day for months on end. He has experienced every level of service from good to bad to down-right horrible.
"Occasionally you get 'outstanding.' When you get outstanding service from a special waiter or waitress don't take it for granted. Grab this opportunity by the reindeer antlers and enjoy the ride," says Joyce. "After your pleasant meal and extraordinary service grab a business card from the host desk on the way to your car. Call the restaurant and ask to speak with the manager."
Here is your conversation:
"Hello {Manager}, This is Ryan Joyce calling. I am calling because this evening I made the decision to take my family to your restaurant to celebrate this holiday season. We were served by one of your staff named {SERVER} and I don't know if anyone has ever called you to talk about this person before; but I want you to know that he/she…. {pause} was totally amazing. They were so friendly and helpful and really made our entire experience at {restaurant} outstanding. I wanted to share that with you and express how delighted we were. We made sure to give our greatest gratitudes to {SERVER} but if the opportunity comes up showcase {SERVER} at your restaurant we would certainly understand how deserving they would be…."
"Every day these people deal with difficulties, frustrations and complaints. If you are experiencing outstanding service, take a few minutes to commend them," says Joyce. "It is a law against physics to do this without a huge smile on your face."
Joyce believes making real life magic shouldn't be difficult, it just takes some thought, sincerity and a little imagination.
Create magical moments this holiday season and share them with others.
