Background
In February, Bell Aliant announced that in 2010 they will more than double their 2009 spending on fibre technology to pass 140,000 homes with fibre to the home by the end of this year.
Bell Aliant recently launched the next level of Bell Aliant FibreOP(TM) residential services now available in Fredericton offering customers 60 Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload Internet service - the fastest Internet experience available in the city. These unprecedented speeds enable customers to download music or movies, and share video or photos faster than ever before. Increasing the capacity of upload speeds in addition to download is important to ensure the fastest two-way and overall Internet experience.
FibreOP(TM) TV offers 100 per cent digital TV service including High Definition television and watch and record PVR, giving customers the option to watch and record two different HD channels at one time. Customers can enjoy unmatched digital picture and sound quality on over 200 channels, including over 90 music channels and 45 HD channels. Other features include an easy-to-use on-screen program guide, free time-shifting that allows customers to watch their favourite shows from other time zones, local radio music stations and access to pay-per-view movies and events.
FibreOP(TM) services are currently for sale in areas of Fredericton. They can be purchased alone, or bundled with all the other telecommunications and entertainment services that customers need for their home, including Home Phone with unlimited features, unlimited long distance calling, FibreOP(TM) Internet and FibreOP(TM) TV.
