Nominations for 2010 OTIP Teaching Awards open
TORONTO, Feb. 23 /CNW/ - The nomination website for the 2010 OTIP Teaching Awards is now open at www.teachingawards.ca. The Awards sponsored by the Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan and presented by the Ontario Teachers' Federation is in its seventh year.
If you know a teacher whose classroom is a centre of active learning, a teacher who is innovative, creative and engaging consider making a nomination for the 2010 OTIP Teaching Awards. There are three categories - Elementary Teacher, Secondary Teacher and Beginning Teacher.
OTF President Reno Melatti said, "The OTIP Awards celebrate the excellent teaching we see every day in our classrooms by acknowledging the work of three special teachers every year. I continue to be impressed by the award winners."
The OTIP Teaching Awards nominations are open to anyone who would like to nominate an excellent teacher in Ontario's publicly funded schools. The process is a simple, online format. Visit the new website at www.teachingawards.ca to read the criteria and nominate someone today.
"OTIP has been honoured to be part of this program for the last seven years. These teachers inspire not only their students and their communities, but also all of those who have an opportunity, through the OTIP Teaching Awards to have a special glimpse inside their classrooms," said OTIP CEO Randy McGlynn.
Nominations will be open until April 12, 2010.
The Ontario Teachers' Federation is the advocate for the teaching profession in Ontario and for its 160,000 teachers. OTF members are full-time, part-time and occasional teachers in all the publicly funded schools in the province - elementary, secondary, public, Catholic and francophone.
