Celebrating Black History Month

MONTREAL, Feb. 22, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - In celebration of Black History Month, Grammy nominated hip hop artist, Jonathan Emile, brings an entertaining and educational outlook on African diaspora culture with "Songs of Freedom: Music as Reflection, Expression and a Tool for Social Change."

Saturday, February 25^th, immerse yourself in a historically rich afternoon during the last weekend of Black History Month.

This interactive presentation blends historical facts, notable songs of the civil rights movement and original songs from Emile's Grammy nominated EP, "The Lover/Fighter Document". Audiences will be taken on a journey from slavery to freedom while examining music as both a reflection and agent of social change.

Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Overture With The Arts, an organization providing local youth with access to performing arts education through workshops and after-school programs.

The show takes place at Riverdale High School, 5060 Sources Boulevard, Pierrefonds and starts at 3:00PM, doors open at 2:00PM. $5 admission. Ages 10 and up. Tickets are available at the door.
