MONTREAL, Feb. 26, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Artworks by criminalized women in the process of social reintegration, created in collaboration with professional artists, are on public display in a major exhibition at the Maison de la Culture NDG. Presented by the collective Art Entr'Elles, in association with the Société Elizabeth Fry du Québec (SEFQ) and Continuité-famille auprès des détenues (CFAD), this community art event community emerges from a desire for social justice.
The Art Entr'Elles collective was initiated in 2009. It brings together professional artists and criminalized women with the intention of raising public awareness about the challenges of social reintegration for women who have been in trouble with the law. The collective also aims to encourage critical reflection about incarceration and the possible alternatives to imprisonment.
