New cuts to airport security screening services at Ottawa International and other airports will mean service delays and compromise national security and passenger safety, warns the United Steelworkers (USW). The USW represents security screeners at Ottawa International and numerous airports across Canada.
"To protect passenger safety and provide timely service, the Canadian Air Transport Security Agency (CATSA) must reverse these dramatic cuts in front-line airport security screeners," said Ken Neumann, the USW's National Director for Canada.
"These cuts are completely inconsistent with CATSA's supposed emphasis on national security and passenger safety, particularly at a time of increased air travel," Neumann said.
