MEDIA ADVISORY - River Rock Casino Resort set to host magnificent 80 foot public art display "The Imperial Water Dragon", by renowned artist Kevin Stone
RICHMOND, BC, Jan. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - In the spirit of the Chinese Lunar Year of the Dragon, River Rock Casino Resort is proud to announce that it will be hosting the Imperial Water Dragon, an impressive sculpture created by a talented, local sculptor, Kevin Stone. This magnificent piece of public art signifies wealth and good luck.
"I have designed a double coiling dragon which has been created from mirror-polished stainless steel with an overall length of 35ft and standing 12' tall at the head and tail. The impressive total body length which includes the coils is almost 85'," said Stone.
What makes this sculpture even more remarkable is that it incorporates different types of animals. "The head is representative of the camel, the scales of a carp, the horns of a giant deer, the eyes of a rabbit, the ears of the bull, the neck of a snake, the belly of a clam, the paws of a tiger and the claws of an eagle," added Stone.
The sculpture will be on public display at the River Rock Casino Resort grounds for six months and all who are interested in exploring and viewing this spectacular artwork are welcome to attend a special ceremony during which the Imperial Water Dragon will be unveiled.
The unveiling ceremony will take place on Friday, January 20th at 11 am. Media is welcome to attend as photography and filming will be permitted.
