A Celebration and Discussion of Reproductive Justice for Canadian Women
TORONTO, Jan. 26, 2013 /CNW/ - On January 28, 1988 the Supreme Court of Canada overturned Canada's abortion law in an historic decision that gave women the right to abortion on request without restrictions. The Ontario Coalition for Abortion Clinics will be commemorating the 25th Anniversary of The Morgentaler Decision with a celebration event and discussion about reproductive justice today.
WHAT: | The speakers will discuss the struggle for reproductive justice leading up the decision as well as access to abortions in Canada today and current issues related to reproductive justice. |

WHY: | The Morgentaler decision followed the rise of a movement supporting a woman's right to choose that involved thousands of women, men, students, trade unionists and social justice activists. This victory for women's rights is an important reason to celebrate and to remember Dr. Morgentaler's contribution.
