15-20, 2010/
Don't Miss the Bus!
OTTAWA, June 23 /CNW Telbec/ - From August 15-20, 2010, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) will, for the first time, lead a study tour in Québec of cutting-edge municipal green infrastructure projects and sustainability programs. Québec was chosen because of its reputation as a champion in sustainable development, demonstrated by its innovative capital projects, programs and policies.
Elected representatives and municipal staff from the four corners of the country, and especially from Québec, are invited to participate in this tremendous learning experience.
For over 12 years, FCM has led missions or study tours in progressive European countries such as Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and the United Kingdom, that have incorporated sustainability into their economic development strategies. Realizing there was enormous potential within Canada, FCM has held the last two missions in Alberta and British Columbia.
The 2010 Mission delegates will visit green infrastructure projects in Montréal, Sherbrooke, Victoriaville and Québec City.
Site visits will showcase world-renowned technologies and best practices adopted by Québec municipalities in the energy, brownfields, transportation, planning, waste, and water management sectors. The tours will include presentations and opportunities for municipal delegates to network with experts and their peers. Discussions will also address the partnerships and available funding that are crucial to each project's success. All presentations and information will be offered in both French and English.
Interested participants must register by July 15.
Detailed information about the Mission, including registration and costs, can be found at www.fcm.ca/gmf (click Mission from the left-hand navigation menu).
