Media Invitation - AFRIKADEY! 2012

CALGARY, July 17, 2012 /CNW/ - Media are invited join AFRIKADEY! at Big Rock Brewery on Thursday, July 19th at 2:30 p.m.

At this time Tunde Dawodu, the artistic director of the Festival will announce the complete lineup for the Aug. 11th Afrikadey! concert which will take place at Prince's Island Park from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The word Afrikadey! - which means vibrant or lively in West Africa - has for the past 21 years in Calgary been synonymous with a week of activities that celebrate music, food, dance, theatre, film, literature and visual arts of Africa and her descendant cultures.

The 2012 Afrikadey! Festival runs from Aug. 5th to Aug. 11th kicking off with an opening gala at the Westin Hotel. Other Afrikadey! events will include a film screening, international fashion show, artist/activist symposium and Afrobeat workshop.

Full details about all of these events will be provided at the July 19th press conference. Big Rock Brewery is located at 5555 - 76th Ave. S.E, Calgary. Refreshments will be served and the Chris Copeland and Brian Quaye duet will be performing to provide media with photo/video opportunities.
