Media Advisory - Remove "Canadian experience" as an employment requirement: OHRC
TORONTO, July 26, 2013 /CNW/ - On Monday July 29, 2013, the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) in partnership with The Learning Enrichment Foundation shares its new Policy on removing the "Canadian experience" barrier.
The OHRC Policy shows that many newcomers turn to unpaid work such as volunteering, internships or low-skilled "survival jobs" to meet the requirement for Canadian experience. The new policy sets out the OHRC's position that a strict requirement for "Canadian experience" is discriminatory, and can only be used in rare circumstances.
The community-based event takes place on Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Learning Enrichment Foundation, 116 Industry Street, Toronto from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm.
