Carlton Cinema opening celebrations start June 30th
TORONTO, June 10 /CNW/ - The much-anticipated opening of Carlton Cinema is scheduled on Wednesday, June 30.
To celebrate the opening, there will be two days of free movies on June 30 and July 1, sponsored by The EYE Weekly. The list of free movies include popular titles such as Crazy Heart, Chloe, A Single Man, Departures, Julie and Julia, Away from Her, Fantastic Mr Fox and others.
While admission to the movies is free, The Toronto Star's Fresh Air Fund will gratefully accept donations of $2 or more to help send underprivileged kids to summer camp. List of feature films starting Friday, July 2, for the regular engagement at Carlton Cinema, will be announced very shortly.
Carlton Cinema is located at 20 Carlton Street (between Yonge and Church streets). The nine-screen cinema has been refurbished with the latest sound and projection systems and relaxing "love" seats to enhance each movie-going experience.
Carlton Cinema will offer Toronto cinephiles the best of the Canadian, indie and Hollywood movies. Carlton will also showcase a variety of documentaries and film festivals.
Admission prices will be $6.00 for children and seniors, $7 for adults during matinees and $9 in the evening. Discount Tuesdays admission will be $5 for all ages.
Carlton Cinema will operate under the banner of Magic Lantern Theatres, an Edmonton based Movie Exhibition Company, which also operates Rainbow Cinemas. Magic Lantern Theatres, a community-based Canadian company, was established in 1980. With the opening of the Carlton Cinema, the company will expanded its operations to 17 locations across Canada with a total of 87 screens.
