LOTTO MAX Hits a New Record Level: $95 million - The Largest Prize Amount In
Canadian History
TORONTO, June 12 /CNW/ - Canada is gripped by lottery fever and the temperature is about to rise. There was no winning ticket for the $50 million LOTTO MAX jackpot last night, so that means the upcoming LOTTO MAX draw for Friday, June 18 will reach a new record in Canadian lottery history. The jackpot will remain at $50 million, but this time there will be an unprecedented additional 45 $1 million MAXMILLIONS prizes (estimated), bringing the total prize amount to $95 million.
Although there were no winners nationally of the $50 million jackpot, there are several winning tickets in Ontario. Ten winning MAXMILLIONS tickets were sold in Ontario for last night's MAXMILLIONS draws. The winning tickets were sold in Toronto, Hamilton, Mississauga, Vaughan, Ottawa, and the Thunder Bay region.
Thousands of other LOTTO MAX prizes were also won, including a winning ticket for second prize in Ontario.
MAXMILLIONS are additional $1 million prizes added to the game when the jackpot reaches $50 million. MAXMILLIONS prizes are drawn separately from the LOTTO MAX jackpot draw, which means that a LOTTO MAX ticket not only gives players a chance at $50 million but also the chance to win any of the $1 million MAXMILLIONS draws on the same date.
Since the game launched in September 2009, there have been eleven MAXMILLIONS winners in total, two of them from Ontario.
