Clearford Industries Inc. to Service Communities in Delhi, India with
Engineers India Limited
OTTAWA, June 15 /CNW/ - Clearford Industries Inc. ("Clearford" or the "Company", TSX-V:CLI) today announced it has established a pre-bid relationship with Engineers India Limited (EIL) to service communities within the boundaries of Delhi, India through three pilot projects using Clearford technology. The rural community of Bijwasan, a planned new development area within the urban boundaries of Delhi and an un-serviced colony area are the identified priority areas of the pilot projects. Each of the three identified pilot project areas contain populations in excess of 10,000 persons.
The pilot project sanitary sewer solution is being designed by Clearford utilizing the patented Small Bore Sewer System (SBS(TM)). With the Clearford SBS(TM) as the enabling technology, water treatment to potable standard and bio-gas conversion to electricity are available features of the servicing. Clearford will design the solution and supply specific elements including components of the digestion process, water treatment and methane conversion facilities. EIL will act as the site and construction engineers of record for the pilot projects.
Delhi is the the eighth largest metropolis in the world with over 12.25 million inhabitants. Araina Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. (AEPL) has the responsibility to market, develop specific project opportunities and assist in the delivery of Clearford projects in the Delhi area and other North Indian States. Mr. Karan Kohli C.O.O. of AEPL commented "Delhi increasingly is experiencing water scarcity due to intense urbanization. Delhi has more than 1,600 community areas that have been settled yet require sanitary sewer infrastructure." Mr. Kohli further stated "Through the Ontario Clean Technology Mission to India, lead by Mr. Dalton McGuinty, the Premier of Ontario, AEPL became aware of Clearford's solution. Delhi and India must and will adopt infrastructure that both operate within our limited daily water availability and enable reclamation of the water. I believe the pre-bid relationship with EIL will deliver the most professionally implemented pilots within the Delhi, India area."
Clearford and EIL are working to establish designs and costing proposals for contract execution in Q3 of 2010. Construction commencement is targeted to commence in Q4, 2010. The pilot project contracts are being sought with the Delhi water authority (JAL) or the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), dependent upon the project type and location.
While Clearford believes that significant and near term opportunities exist for the Company's solution, there can be no assurance that customer agreements will be reached or that such agreements will be profitable should they be implemented.
