KINGSTON, ON, June 22 /CNW Telbec/ - As the home inspection industry is torn by reports of incompetency, consumer abuse, fraud and acrimony, a new national home inspection organization has been created with the full support of Canada's most powerful labour organization, Teamsters Canada.
With a revolutionary agreement with the Teamsters in hand, the Alliance of Canadian Home Inspectors is determined to address these perceived problems with extensive and developed training coupled with an opportunity for all Canadian inspectors to easily join the Alliance to develop their knowledge and grow their business.
"For years, our industry has been fragmented by private organizations selling their so-called accreditation and education programs to unsuspecting home inspectors-and making a fortune in the process. Provincial and national organizations have taken huge sums of government money to then disappear and leave the public and home inspectors all the more poor for it. Today, with the help of the Teamsters, the ALLIANCE of CANADIAN HOME INSPECTORS has put an end to those 'wild west' days", explains George Luck, Alliance president and owner of Kingston-based Dominion Home Inspectors. "For the first time ever, Canadians can count on a national home inspection organization that welcomes all inspectors, offers them free education programs, has a portfolio of savings on goods and services and values its membership. Canadian consumers can finally choose from a pool of trustworthy inspectors. The Teamsters' full support says it all."
Education director John Umpleby, who also owns Informed Decisions of Oakville adds this: "With the collapse of the national certification program, partly funded by the CMHC, and the infighting between the remaining provincial organizations, Canadian home inspectors deserve more. The ALLIANCE of CANADIAN HOME INSPECTORS is set to provide what the others never did: FREE education for its members. Inspectors formerly paid a lot of money to take courses offered by various private home inspector associations and small private schools. The ACHI is going to offer the same courses and better to members without cost. ACHI courses are being professionally prepared with the help of the TEAMSTERS and will offer huge savings to every inspector member. The ALLIANCE of CANADIAN HOME INSPECTORS is a non-profit corporation and will return every cent of member-derived dollars back to members in the form of benefits. The ACHI values its members!"
"It's a new day for Canadian consumers and home inspectors!" concludes President Luck.
The Teamsters Union represents 125,000 members in Canada in all trades. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with which Teamsters Canada is affiliated, has 1.4 million members in North America.
