G8-G20 Summits Integrated Security Unit - Toronto Police Service lays charges
against second person in G20-related arrests
BARRIE, ON, June 24 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, June 23, 2010, Toronto Police Service (TPS) officers, in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police, executed search warrants in the Township of Tiny and in the Township of Lake of Bays.
The execution of these search warrants is related to the ongoing investigation led by TPS which involved a search warrant being executed at 58 Elderwood Drive, in the Bathurst and Lawrence area of Toronto, on June 22. This resulted in charges being laid against Byron Sonne, 37, of Toronto
As a result of the ongoing investigation, Kristen Peterson, 37, of Toronto, has also been arrested and charged with:
1) Possession of an Explosive Device
2) Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
The Toronto Police Service is a member of the RCMP-led Integrated Security Unit (ISU). The ISU has the mandate to ensure safe and secure summits in Huntsville and Toronto in June 2010 for all participants, visitors and residents. The ISU is comprised of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Toronto Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, Peel Regional Police and the Canadian Forces.
