The School for Social Entrepreneurs Ontario (SSE-O) is based on a highly successful model from the UK's School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE UK/Global), founded in London in 1997 by Michael Young, the UK's foremost social entrepreneur. There are now 12 SSE schools, with eight sites based in the UK and two franchise schools operating internationally in Australia. An Ontario collaborative formed in 2010 to bring SSE-O to North America.
