Inerjys Founder and Managing Partner Stephan Ouaknine and Hydro-Québec's Executive VP of Technology to Speak; Maccabeats to Perform Live
MONTREAL, June 4, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Did you know that Israel generates more high-tech start-ups than traditional industrial powerhouses such as Japan, China, England, and Canada? What Israel lacks in natural resources, she more than makes up for in innovation and forward thinking.
JNF Montreal President Barbara Maldoff is pleased to announce that on June 12, at the Montreal Science Centre, the community at-large will celebrate Israel's technological prowess while raising money for future research and development at the Annual Negev Evening in an unprecedented event, "A Nation @ 65: From Start-Up to Now.
Emceed by Stephan Ouaknine, a Montreal entrepreneur, and the founder and managing partner of Inerjys Ventures, the evening will focus on the promise of green technology to develop clean air solutions and reduce carbon emissions, in addition the cutting-edge future for electric vehicles. Keynote speakers include Élie Saheb, Executive Vice President of Technology at Hydro-Québec, a company regarded as a worldwide leader in green technology. Among his many responsibilities, Mr. Saheb oversees the development of battery and motor technologies for electric vehicles.
We are also pleased that Dan Cohen, former CEO of Better Place, an Israeli start-up credited with inventing a new generation of batteries and charging stations for electric cars, will be joining us as a speaker.
"I'm humbled and excited to lead this wonderful celebration of the Israeli high-tech industry and renewable energy. I also hope this event raises as much money as possible to support JNF's efforts in researching and developing the next extraordinary Israeli innovation to help us remain green and clean," explained Mr. Ouaknine.
All funds raised at the event will benefit JNF's Southern Arava Research and Development Station in the Negev Desert, part of a continual effort to develop innovative agricultural and water harvesting techniques.
Internationally renowned internet sensation, the Maccabeats, will also be on-hand to provide their unique blend of a capella music. Among the surprises awaiting guests: a draw to win an electric SMART car lease (Courtesy of Silver Star Mercedes-Benz) as well as the announcement of the 2014 Negev Evening Honouree.
