MEDIA ALERT - The Canadian Nuclear Society will hold its 34th annual conference at the Marriott Toronto Downtown Eaton Centre, Sunday to Wednesday, June 9-12, 2013
TORONTO, June 7, 2013 /CNW/ - "Nuclear: the Next Generation" is the theme for this year's gathering of nuclear industry experts from across Canada and around the world.
This theme reflects both the younger generation that will take nuclear science and technology forward in Canada, as well as the next generation of nuclear technology that will provide sustainable solutions to health, energy, and security issues.
Topics for discussion at this conference will include: the status of nuclear science and technology in Canada and around the world, recent developments at Canadian utilities, licensing issues for new nuclear technology development, and plans for plant refurbishment and new build.
The Opening Reception on Sunday evening, June 9, will include greetings from the Hon. Reza Moridi, Ontario Minister of Research and Innovation.
The opening plenary session on June 10 will include an address from the Hon. Joe Oliver, Canada's Minister of National Resources, at 9 AM.
For business, energy, and science reporters this conference offers an insight into major nuclear projects and an opportunity to meet leaders in the nuclear sector. A few of the many conference highlights are listed below (more details at www.cns-snc.ca).
Media passes are available to accredited journalists at the conference registration desk (access to luncheons does not include meals).
