Fact-filled light-hearted show about the War of 1812 tours Ontario starting this week

HALIFAX, June 17, 2013 /CNW/ - 18MIN:12SEC (18:12) is a fact-filled light-hearted look at the War of 1812 told in 18 minutes and 12 seconds. Produced out of Nova Scotia by the KA'NATA Foundation and KA'NATA Productions Inc, 18:12 is about making history interesting and entertaining.

Thursday will mark the opening date of  the show's two-week Ontario tour, at the Redpath Tall Ships Waterfront Festival at HTO Park East. The show performs multiple times throughout the festival until Sunday June 23. Shows are free of charge and suitable for the whole family. View video and full schedule http://www.18min12sec.ca  The tour culminates on Canada Day at Ottawa's Byward Market.

Using multi-media technology, rhythms, props, colourful costumes, songs and hilarious sketches, 18:12 brings to life this seminal moment in Canadian history - which resulted in Canada's nationhood and subsequent 200 years of peace. The four-person bilingual, multi-disciplined cast from across the country, performs in a purpose-built state of the art travelling stage venue which sets up easily in populated areas such as festivals, events, and public spaces.

The production is supported by Canadian Heritage and Parks Canada.

The KA'NATA Foundation is a not-for-profit dedicated to inspiring, educating and raising the public's understanding and pride in our culture - through the arts - specifically in heritage entertainment.  Led by Producers Brookes Diamond, Fiona Diamond and Jac Gautreau of KA'NATA Productions Inc, 18:12 is the first step towards a larger production, KA'NATA, leading to our nation's 150th birthday celebration in 2017.  KA'NATA Productions Inc is owned by an investor group, which raised funds for the enterprise through a Community Economic Development Investment Fund (CEDIF) offering.
