Online payment company enabling mobile workforce with affordable, easy-to-use authenticator choices

DALLAS, March 24 /CNW/ -- Enabling secure remote access for employees is no longer a luxury -- in most industries today, it's a requirement. Austrian-based online payment organization paysafecard sought to properly secure remote access to their corporate environment and sensitive information. Based on their preferred balance of versatility, affordability and ease of use, paysafecard selected Entrust, Inc. and the Entrust IdentityGuard versatile authentication platform to secure their mobile workforce.

"We understand the importance of remote access for our employees, but we felt it was an absolute necessity to enable this capability via a strong, proven and cost-effective authentication solution," said Marcus Zajer, Head of IT Operations at paysafecard. "Entrust offered us a wide range of authenticators that could be managed all on a single platform. It was simply a solution that made sense for our business."

Facilitated by Entrust partner CorTEC IT Security Solutions GmbH, paysafecard relies on Entrust IdentityGuard and three types of strong authentication -- one-time-password (OTP) tokens, credit card-sized OTP display tokens and SMS soft tokens -- to properly authenticate remote access users via VPN.

"Following a clear strategy, paysafecard is a prime example of a security-conscious organization implementing a strong authentication solution that seamlessly mixes several types of authentication within the same environment," said Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner. "By being proactive, paysafecard not only made remote access authentication easy for their staff, they also made a smart decision to help protect the company's intellectual property and brand."

Entrust IdentityGuard SMS soft tokens may be sent directly to a paysafecard employee's mobile phone. The platform automatically issues a configurable number of OTPs, which can be used as a second factor of authentication. The passcodes expire after a configurable period of time, making them ideal and ultimately secure via SMS.

Entrust IdentityGuard enables organizations to layer security -- according to access requirements or the risk of a given transaction -- across diverse users and applications. The platform's authentication options include strong username and password, IP-geolocation, device profiling, questions and answers, digital certificates, out-of-band one-time passcode (delivered via voice, SMS or e-mail), grid and eGrid cards, SMS soft tokens, and a range of one-time-passcode tokens. Entrust IdentityGuard also provides multiple methods of supporting mutual authentication, including picture and caption replay.

Austrian-based paysafecard has expanded throughout Europe and is now available in Austria, Germany, UK, Ireland, Spain, France, Slovakia, Greece, Belgium, Slovenia, Switzerland, Portugal, the Netherlands, Poland, Denmark and the Czech Republic.
