RICHMOND HILL, ON, March 13, 2012 /CNW/ - The Heritage Village Festival will once again showcase local artists and celebrate the diversity of its community, thanks to an investment by the Government of Canada. This was announced today by Costas Menegakis, Member of Parliament (Richmond Hill), on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
Funding will allow Arts Richmond Hill to present the 21stAnnual Heritage Village Festival from June 8 to 9, 2012. Historic Old Richmond Hill will come alive with jazz, blues, folk, and orchestral music; dance performances; and a variety of local art and heritage displays. The outdoor festival will celebrate the diverse arts, culture, and heritage of the community.
"Our Government received a strong mandate from Canadians to invest in cultural activities that enrich the quality of life of all Canadians," said Minister Moore. "By supporting the Heritage Village Festival, our Government is delivering on its commitment to strengthen our economy and support our arts, culture, and heritage."
"Our community is fortunate to have so many talented local artists, musicians, dancers, and heritage groups to inspire us," said Mr. Menegakis. "Activities such as these stimulate the local economy and celebrate Richmond Hill's diversity."

"With this support, the 21st Annual Heritage Village Festival will once again be a terrific way for people to come together and celebrate our cultural diversity."
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $7,900 through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
