Media Advisory - ONA President Visits Ottawa Nurses: Front-line nurses
celebrating Nursing Week 2010
OTTAWA, May 10 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN will join Vice-President Anne Clark in visits to Ottawa registered nurses at Royal Ottawa Mental Health centre, Queensway Carleton Hospital, The Ottawa Hospital and the Perley & Rideau Veterans' Health Centre tomorrow.
As part of Nursing Week 2010 celebrations, Clark and Haslam-Stroud will tour these health-care facilities and personally wish ONA members a Happy Nursing Week. National Nursing Week is May 10 to 16 and ONA nurses will celebrate across the province.
ONA's theme for Nursing Week 2010 is "Celebrate our Nurses: The Heart of Health Care" and site visits to nurses are intended to help them celebrate. Despite large nursing cuts across the province, this is a week to celebrate the skills and professionalism our nurses bring to health care. Haslam-Stroud and Clark will be in Ottawa from 10 am to 10 pm and are available to speak to the media.
ONA is the union representing 55,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals, as well as more than 12,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
