State's King County Housing Authority thanks to $380,000 U.S. Department of
Homeland Security Award

Safe-T-element identified as a leading solution to $billion stovetop kitchen fire problem at National Fire Prevention Strategy Meeting in Washington DC

MISSISSAUGA, ON, May 18 /CNW/ - Pioneering Technology Corp. of Mississauga, Ontario (TSX-V: PTE), ("Pioneering") announces today that it has been advised by the King County Housing Authority (KCHA) of Tukwila, Washington that they will be purchasing and installing the Safe-T-element cooking system in 2,000 of the KCHA's affordable housing units with a $381,300 grant from the Department of Homeland Security.

David Daniels, President of the King County Fire Chief's Association said in support of the KCHA's submission, "Since many of the KCHA's residential units do not have sprinkler systems, these fires can cause disastrous consequences resulting in the injury or death of tenants, staff and firefighters, as well as significant property damage. Elderly residents experiencing cognitive difficulties and those who lack experience with basic cooking safety precautions are compelling examples of KCHA residents who would benefit from this grant. I applaud King County Housing Authority for their efforts to ensure the safety of their residents by applying for this grant."

Other Homeland Security Safe-T-element award recipients announced so far this year include the University of Miami, the Bellevue Washington Fire Department, Sandy Springs GA Fire Department and the Norfolk Virginia Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Pioneering due to its growing success as a solution provider of cooking related fire prevention technologies was recently invited to participate at the Vision 20/20 Strategy 4 Kitchen Fire Prevention Technologies Workshop in Washington DC. The Vision 20/20 National Forum was created to bring together some of the brightest minds in fire safety to develop a comprehensive national strategy for fire prevention in the United States. The goal of Vision 20/20 is to marshal forces for the development and support of a national strategic agenda for fire loss prevention. The workshop, by invitation only, was funded by the Department of Homeland Security, State Farm Insurance, and the Institute of Fire Engineers US Branch and included federal level government agencies, non-profit organizations, trade associations and stove manufacturers.
