Harper Government Unveils Itinerary of the 2012 Royal Tour of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall Français
OTTAWA, May 11, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced the full itinerary of the Royal Tour of Canada by Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.
"This special Diamond Jubilee Tour will include a range of events, from large public venues where Canadians will have an opportunity to see Their Royal Highnesses, to intimate meetings with volunteers, students, teachers, and veterans. We look forward to showing Their Royal Highnesses some of the best of what Canada has to offer," said Minister Moore.
The itinerary was developed in collaboration with municipal, provincial and federal partners, as well as Clarence House and private organizations. Highlights and commemorations include:
- On May 22, Their Royal Highnesses will attend a Military Muster in Commemoration of the War of 1812 at the Fort York Armoury in Toronto. This unique and spectacular display will include formations of soldiers—including First Nations—and regiments whose antecedents fought in the War of 1812.
- Their Royal Highnesses will present Diamond Jubilee medals to Canadians in Toronto and Regina. In Saint John, a special Diamond Jubilee Victoria Day Citizenship Ceremony will be held where 12 new citizens will take the Oath of Citizenship.
