LONDON, ON, May 25, 2012 /CNW/ - Emily McDermott, 15, of London, doesn't let being a partial right hand amputee prevent her from enjoying some of her favourite activities, like playing the cello.  She is able to do so with the help of a cello device provided by The War Amps.

Emily, a member of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program, will be demonstrating her cello device today (Friday May 25) in room London B of the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel at the opening session of The War Amps 2012 Ontario CHAMP Seminar.

With the theme Accentuating the Positive, the news conference will also feature other young amputees demonstrating various recreational artificial limbs and devices they use to overcome their amputations and achieve their goals, including waterproof swim legs, and devices for skipping, guitar and hockey.

Running May 25 to May 27, the seminar will be a life-changing experience for Champs and their parents, covering everything from raising an amputee child, to dealing with teasing and staring, to seeing the latest developments in artificial limbs.
