Media Advisory - Retail Council of Canada President to present to Standing Committee on Finance

TORONTO, May 30, 2012 /CNW/ - Media are invited to meet with Diane J. Brisebois, President and CEO, Retail Council of Canada (RCC) following her presentation on Thursday, May 31 to the Standing Committee on Finance for its study on Bill C-38, Jobs, Growth and Long-term Prosperity Act.

Brisebois will provide an assessment of the factors which contribute to the U.S-Canada price discrepancy. She will also discuss the negative impact of cross border shopping on Canadian retailers, bringing with her more than 1000 signed letters from Canadian retailers of all sizes. The letters, which represent retailers from coast to coast, urge Finance Minister Jim Flaherty to establish an environment where Canadian retailers can compete on a level playing field.
