Water Industry Professionals Meet in Ottawa May 5-8
OTTAWA, May 2, 2013 /CNW/ - Safe drinking water is the focus as members of the Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA), the Ontario Municipal Water Association (OMWA) and the Ontario Water Works Equipment Association (OWWEA) gather for their annual conference and trade show at the Ottawa Convention Centre, May 5-8.
Water industry professionals will, in more than 50 technical sessions, tackle the conference theme "Uncharted Waters - Exploring New Horizons."
Former Toronto Argo football star Michael "Pinball" Clemons headlines the opening plenary session Monday May 6, 0830 hrs. Other activities include a Water Tasting Competition, Meter Madness and a Tapping Demonstration.
Fracking - Fears and Facts
A Town Hall Forum, Tuesday 1630 hrs, explores the controversial topic of fracking. Does this technology and the natural gas it recovers outweigh its threat to our water supply?
CBC journalist Mark Kelley moderates a panel that will examine both sides of the issue. Panelists include: Dr. Saad Jasim (International Joint Commission), Dr. Richard Jackson (Geofirma Engineering) and Janet Annesley (Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers).
