THE KIDNEY FOUNDATION OF CANADA WILL PAY TRIBUTE TO ALL TRANSPLANT ATHLETES
WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE 5TH CANADIAN TRANSPLANT GAMES AT ITS FOUNDER'S AWARD
GALA ON NOVEMBER 24, 2010

MONTREAL, Nov. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - As part of its 20^th annual Founder's Award Gala, The Kidney Foundation of Canada - Quebec Branch is pleased to announce that it will present the 2010 Founder's Award to all kidney transplant athletes who participated in the recent Canadian Transplant Games.

Seventeen kidney transplant athletes attended the Games, which were held in Quebec City this year from August 9-14. Through their perseverance and determination, these athletes unquestionably reflect what organ donation do…give the gift of life.

With their participation in the recent Canadian Transplant Games, these 17 athletes, who are a true source of inspiration, clearly prove that living an active life after receiving a transplant is possible. For this reason, the Founder's Award will be presented to them on November 24, 2010 during the Gala that will be held at Le Windsor ballrooms in Montreal. 

What a great reason to celebrate! In 2009, 941 Quebecers were on the waiting list for a kidney, representing 78% of people on the waiting list for an organ transplant.

Launched in 1991, the Founder's Award is presented every year to one or several key people whose dedication and accomplishments have helped advance the fight against kidney disease. The presentation of this award is the high point of the Founder's Award Campaign, one of The Kidney Foundation of Canada's largest fundraisers.
