Malibu® Snowflake Lands First in Canada

With the Most Magical Bottle of the Holiday Season

TORONTO, Nov. 18 /CNW/ - Canadians can celebrate the Holidays with one of the most novel spirits this season, Malibu Snowflake rum, a groundbreaking new product that hits retail shelves this month.  Available in most markets* across the country, the limited edition Malibu Snowflake is a Caribbean rum with coconut flavoured liquor.  It is infused with real coconut flakes that appear magically suspended in the clear coconut rum.

"The bottle's imaginative design resembles a snow globe," says Kirsten Devitt, Senior Brand Manager at Corby Distilleries.  "A portion of the bottle's wrap is transparent, highlighting the continually suspended coconut flakes that never sink to the bottom or float to the top."

Canada will be both the first and only country where consumers can experience Malibu Snowflake during Winter 2010/2011.  And, in another 'first', the new-to-market product is Malibu's first winter-specific offering to be made available in Canada.

"Malibu Snowflake blends the chill of Canadian winters with the exotic warmth of the Caribbean," Devitt adds.  "This easily mixable, highly giftable product is sure to be a hit for Holiday 2010."

For a limited time only and while supplies last, the 750 ml Malibu Snowflake retails at the same price point as the original Malibu product ($21.29- $25.99).  Malibu Snowflake will be available in *British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

A range of Holiday cocktails has been developed by top mixologists at the Toronto Institute of Bartending using Malibu Snowflake:

Tropical Snowstorm
1.5 oz Malibu Snowflake
.5 oz Absolut Mango
2 oz White Grape Juice
Twist of lime
Preparation: Stir all ingredients over ice and strain into chilled martini glass. Add a lime twist.

Arctic Snowflake
.75 oz Malibu Snowflake
.25 oz McGuinness Blue Curacao
Preparation: Layer Malibu Snowflake over Blue Curacao into a chilled shot glass.

Winter Whiteout
2 oz Malibu Snowflake
2 oz White Cranberry Juice
Soda Water
Twist of lemon
Preparation: Stir all ingredients over ice and in a tall chilled glass. Add a lemon twist.
