MONTREAL, Nov. 1, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - "The Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation (HMR Foundation) invites all wine enthusiasts to Montréal Passion Vin, on November 2nd and 3rd, for one of the most prestigious wine-tasting events in North America. Presented by the SAQ, this unique gathering offers the opportunity to meet the "wine artisans" who constitute the world's elite winemakers. This year's program includes seven wine tastings with eight producers from three different countries as well as a gastronomical banquet that is the stuff of dreams", says Martin Gauthier, Vice President, Senior Partner at Sid Lee and President of the Organizing Committee.
As a preamble to Montréal Passion Vin 2012, in the presence of Honorary President Dominique Michel, the Taittinger Winery and the Groupe Europea have partnered with a brand new event, À Votre Santé!, which will be held on November 1st at the Salon Urbain in Place des Arts. On November 2nd, at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure Hotel, the opening wine-tasting event will be led by Vitalie Taittinger of the eponymous Champagne winery, who will present three Comtes de Champagne, among other delights. Véronique Rivest, winner of the Best Sommelier of the Americas title, will act as emcee.
The Bordeaux region will be strongly represented. From the Right Bank, Alain Vauthier, the owner of Château Ausone, will present six vintages from two different wines from his exceptional vineyard. From the Graves region, the wines of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, both white and red, will be available to taste in the company of owner Florence Cathiard as part of the wine tasting/meal orchestrated by Claude Pelletier and Hubert Marsolais of Le Club Chasse et pêche, Le Filet and Le Serpent restaurants. From Burgundy, the largest Grand Cru monopole vineyard, Domaine Clos de Tart, has been added to the latest edition of Montréal Passion Vin. Also from Burgundy, Laurent Drouhin, of the Domaine Joseph Drouhin, will present six wines, including three vintages of his famous Clos des Mouches.
From Italy, Doctor Sandro Boscaini, patriarch and top man at Masi Agricola, will present his wines in the unique context of an astonishing tasting event as part of a meal signed by Paul Kiu Kwok Kit, Master Chef of L'Orchidée de Chine. And from Spain, two Castilian estates from the Ribera del Duero region: Peter Sisseck of Dominio de Pingus will present the extremely rare Flor de Pingus and Alejandro Fernandez, of Bodegas Alejandro Fernández Tinto Pesquera, will offer three vintages of Janus Gran Reserva. For the first time at Montréal Passion Vin, Jérôme Ferrer, Grand Chef Relais & Châteaux, Groupe Europea, will produce the food for the cocktail as well as for the November 3rd banquet for 500 guests.
The eminence of these three days of wine-tasting festivities has proven to be a remarkable source of recognition for the HMR Foundation, an essential vector for the pursuit and success of its mission to support the Hospital in its projects to improve patient care, enhance teaching and expand research. The proceeds from this activity will support the construction of the future HMR Integrated Cancerology Centre in which the HMR Foundation will invest nearly 15 million dollars over the next few years. The centre will encompass all oncology-related activities in a single state-of-the-art clinic, in addition to becoming the sole cancerology hub for the population of Montreal's east end.
