Rex Murphy headlines annual Salvation Army Hope in the City Breakfast

OTTAWA, Nov. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - The Salvation Army is pleased to announce the keynote speaker for this year's Hope in the City Breakfast is social commentator and editorialist Rex Murphy.  Murphy is known for his wit, humour and gripping political commentary which has captivated audiences across the country.

"We are delighted to have Rex Murphy join us in celebrating the work of the Salvation Army at our annual breakfast, which kicks off such an important season for us," said Michael Maidment, spokesperson for The Salvation Army.

More than 50% of The Salvation Army's total funds raised each year is raised during the Christmas season. The Hope in the City Breakfast is also a time to highlight the impact our volunteers and staff make every day, working with people in need.

This annual event, which raises funds to support critical programs to assist more than 20,000 people in our community every year, brings together prominent business leaders, influential community members and political decision makers.  On this most joyous of holidays, The Salvation Army welcomes the community to help bring hope, dignity and smiles back to our community's most vulnerable people.
