What is Help-Portrait?
Help-Portrait is a movement of photographers who are using their time, equipment, and expertise to give back to those who are less fortunate during the holiday season. Our annual event includes volunteers who are hair stylists, makeup artists, musicians and many general volunteers who work together to create a special event for the community in the holiday season.

Our Goal
1. Find someone in need | 2. Take their portrait | 3. Print their portrait | 4. Deliver it.

Help-Portrait Vancouver - History

Help-Portrait Vancouver is the Vancouver representation of the worldwide initiative started by Jeremy Cowart with Help-Portrait Inc in 2009. This movement has spread around the world; reaching 58 countries at over 600 locations with more than 7000 photographers involved.

Stephanie Limage of Nehemiah Records and local photographer Ian Sheh put together the initial team of photographers, sponsors and volunteers to start the Help-Portrait Vancouver chapter. Stephanie continued to organize the event for the first four years, including a smaller version of the event at Children's Hospital.

Help Portrait Vancouver is now in it's fifth year and although Stephanie and Ian are no longer directly involved in the event, they have created a special community event that is looked forward to by many people.

Help-Portrait Vancouver 2013
This year Help-Portrait Vancouver was taken on by past volunteer coordinator Evan Powroznik and past lead photographer Bernard Ng, who were both a part of the first Help Portrait Vancouver. They have registered the organization as a Non-Profit and put together a team and a board of directors from key contributors over the years.

Our team consists of over 150 photographers, makeup artists, hair stylist, musicians and volunteers, and our focus is to share a portrait, laughter and a smile with every person that walks through our doors. We have secured donations from local sponsors and are continually looking for ongoing corporate sponsors for the events that we put on each year.

We visited the Family Services ward at the Children's Hospital again this year and are planning further similar events throughout the year to explore more opportunities to give back to our community.
