students during National Science & Technology Week to turn Canadian kids on

WHAT: Let's Talk Science volunteers will be doing hands-on activities in classrooms, libraries and community settings across the country this National Science & Technology Week (NSTW) to get kids excited and interested in science, engineering and technology. For example:
Calgary, Alta. -------------- Friday, October 16, 10 - 11:30 a.m. MST Laboratories 2525 and 2526, O'Brien Centre, University of Calgary Let's Talk Science volunteers at the University of Calgary will lead southern Alberta high school students through "DNA Whodunnit?" and "Vein to Vein" workshops where they will learn to identify DNA samples and do blood type matching. Toronto, Ont. ------------- Tuesday, October 20, 1- 3 p.m. EST St. Martin de Porres, 230 Morningside Ave., Toronto Let's Talk Science volunteers from the University of Toronto, Scarborough campus, will visit a Grade 2/3 class to teach students about different states of matter. Kids will get to make their own Gak slime. Guelph, Ont. ------------ Tuesday, October 20, 7:30 p.m. EST Lifetime Learning Centre, Ontario Veterinary College, Room 1713 Let's Talk Science volunteers at the University of Guelph will train new volunteer recruits how to make science engaging and fun for kids. Media can see new volunteers developing and presenting hands-on activities related to the science concept friction. Fredericton, N.B. ----------------- Thursday, October 22, 3:45 to 5 p.m. ADT Leo Hayes High School, Frederiction Let's Talk Science volunteers from University of New Brunswick will visit 68 science club students to do hands-on activities about earthquakes, plate tectonics and quicksand.
