Skoda Power Wins Steam Turbine Contract in Turkey
PLZEN, Czech Republic, Oct. 4 /CNW/ - Skoda Power has been awarded a contract for the delivery of 3 x 133 MW Skoda steam turbines with 3S Enerji ve Maden A.S for a power plant in Cankiri, Turkey, worth around EUR60 million.
Skoda Power will also supply an electrical generator, control system, condensing and regenerative system, piping, electrical parts and technical advisory services during installation and commissioning of each of the three condensing steam turbines with axial condenser output.
The inauguration ceremony for the new thermal power plant near Ankara took place on 1 September 2010. The activities of the Turkish investor Yildizlar Holding will cover the complete chain: from coal mining through to electricity generation and distribution to the end consumers.
All three units are scheduled to go online within three years. A portion of the generated energy will be distributed by Yildizlar Holding through its recently privatised Osmangazi network.
Skoda Power is currently regarded as one of the major players in the Turkish steam turbine market, with an approximate 20% share. This includes installations at Soma power plant (6 x 165 MW) and Erdemir power plant (1 x 40 MW). Further, in 2009, Skoda Power was awarded a 2 x 120 MW project at Bolu Goynuk which is currently in progress.
