Multiple Myeloma: Make it Matter!
MONTREAL, Oct 7 /CNW Telbec/ - The public is invited to participate in the second annual Multiple Myeloma March on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Centre Sportif Gadbois located at 5489 Côte Saint-Paul on the Lachine Canal, Montreal. The 5 km walk, organized by Myeloma Canada (www.myeloma.ca), will get underway at 9:30 am. Proceeds will help support Quebec's first dedicated Chair in Multiple Myeloma Research at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital.
Multiple myeloma is a rare and incurable cancer of the bone marrow. In Canada, there are 6000 to 7000 people living with myeloma, with 2000 new cases being diagnosed each year.
According to John Lemieux, President of Myeloma Canada, "Although current treatments can prolong life, medical research is urgently needed to find a cure."
Executive Director Aldo Del Col anticipates that this year more than 500 people will participate in the event and will result in raising more than $100,000.
Refreshments and support services will be available on site.

Myeloma Canada is the only organization in Canada that is uniquely devoted to the Canadian myeloma community, with sixteen support groups across Canada.
