Adult learners from across the province gather to celebrate their High School
Graduation

TORONTO, Oct. 29 /CNW/ - The Ontario Deputy Minister of Education, Kevin Costante, will participate in the Independent Learning Centre's (ILC) Graduation and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October 30^th, 2010.

What will make this ceremony special is that the graduates are adult learners ranging in age from 17 and 68 and will have traveled from across the province to attend the ceremony.

The annual ILC and GED Graduation and Awards Ceremony is a formal occasion that recognizes the achievement of learners who have earned their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) through distance study with the ILC. The ceremony also honours top-scoring General Educational Development (GED) tests writers who have earned their Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate.

"I have had the honour of running the ILC for almost 8 years and in that short period of time, more than 155,000 people have come to us for GED tests and ILC courses. We've welcomed people from every corner of the Province and of every age who need or choose an alternative source of education and credentials; people with dreams and determination." says Sarah Irwin, managing director of the Independent Learning Centre.
