OTTAWA, Oct. 24, 2012 /CNW/ - This week's Auditor General report on cyber security has shown that Canada needs more vigorous safeguards.
Trend Micro's Senior Threat Researcher, Nart Villeneuve available to comment about what kinds of cyber threats the government faces, and what can be done to stay ahead of inevitable attacks in the future.
He will be presenting research and methodologies for Building Threat Intelligence at the Countermeasure 2012 Conference in Ottawa. The research draws from in-depth investigations of Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) such as GhostNet and Shadownet while at the University of Toronto, as well as his contribution to the uncovering of LLURID and Luckycat since joining Trend Micro as a Senior Threat Researcher.
This research is also the foundation for his new white paper about the detection of Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) through network traffic analysis, which is being released in conjunction with Nart's presentation.
"There is more to cyber security then finding, identifying and stopping threat, To understand targeted attacks we need to see the patterns of a campaign and link them through careful monitoring and analysis," according to Mr. Villeneuve.
