Media Advisory - No One to Tell: Breaking My Silence on Life in the RCMP
ST. JOHN'S, Oct. 15, 2013 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, October 23, 2013 Author and former RCMP Officer, Janet Merlo will hold a press conference to officially launch her long awaited book: No One to Tell: Breaking My Silence on Life in the RCMP.
After 20 years in uniform, the systemic harassment and discrimination she faced took its toll leading to the disintegration of her personal life and her mental health. Merlo details her struggles in a work environment tainted by covert and overt discrimination and sexism and supported by an institutional culture wired to value toughness and silence over ethics and accountability.
A determined optimist focused on accountability and fixing what is broken, this brave and unassuming person has found herself leading a class action lawsuit against the RCMP now approaching 300 names.
